2016 Feb: Meeting with the Minister of Defense and National Security Honorable Adam Shareef Umar.
Basically, we wanted to meet the Defence Minister to discuss about Amateur Radio situation in the Maldives. Most importantly, since the National Disaster Management Centre is under the Defence Ministry. And also, about the difficulties faced by Fishermen regarding radio communication.
We presented a presentation we have prepared – “the importance of using Amateur Radio HF, CB and VHF communication in Maldives“. During the presentation we discussed about the different points of the presentation and answered the questions asked by the Minister. We discussed about the nation wide Radio Network we had in the 1980s – 1990s. And also, about disaster preparedness, the issues faced by Maldivian Fishermen regarding radio communication while at sea.
We thanked the Minister for giving us this opportunity. The Minister thanked us for bringing this to his attention and also for answering his questions.
