2015 Jan: Meeting with the Director, Captain Inayath – National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) and UNDP Official.
Basically, we wanted to meet the Director to discuss about Amateur Radio situation in the Maldives. Most importantly the lack of Amateur Radio Operators and disaster management or disaster communication. He was kind enough to include an official from UNDP office in Male’.
We presented a presentation we have prepared about Amateur Radio – “the importance of using Amateur Radio HF, CB and VHF communication in Maldives”. During the presentation we discussed about the different points of the presentation and answered the questions asked by the Director. We discussed about the nation wide Radio Network we had in the 1980 – 1990s. And also, about disaster preparedness or disaster communication and the use of Amateur Radio for a place like Maldives.
The Director thanked us for bringing this to his attention and answering his questions.
