On 9th April 2019, we had an exciting day filled with learning and fun as the Scouts from 18th Male’ Scout Group – Muhyiddin School visited our beloved club member Parker’s (8Q7PR) radio station, located in Male’ City. Currently Mr Parker is the only Club member who has a Station in Male’ City. With 15 enthusiastic Scouts and 2 dedicated adult leaders in attendance, the atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation!
Program Highlights:
- The day kicked off with a warm introduction to the world of Amateur Radio. The Scouts were eager to dive into the adventure that lay ahead!
- Next, we headed to the rooftop to check out the antennas. The Scouts were fascinated by the equipment and got a chance to see how everything is set up.
- After that, it was time for the real fun! We went through the ins and outs of the radio station setup, discussing the different pieces of equipment and how they all work together. The Scouts eagerly absorbed every detail.
- The highlight of the day was when the Scouts got the opportunity to use the radio themselves! They learned about calling procedures and even made live contacts. A special moment occurred when some of the Scouts were able to connect with our Club President, Mr. Ali Mahir – 8Q7AM, who resides in Baa Atoll. The joy on their faces was priceless!
Q & A Session:
After all the hands-on activities, we held a Q & A session where Scouts were encouraged to ask anything they wanted about Amateur Radio. Their curiosity and enthusiasm were truly inspiring!
A Big Thank You!
We, the Maldives Amateur Radio Society want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Muhyiddin School Scouts and their leaders for their keen interest in Amateur Radio. It was a pleasure sharing our passion with such an eager group, and we truly hope they learned something new and exciting from their visit.
